Does anyone else get a problem where when you move your mouse around on the screen all the movement starts going really slow? If you dont move the mouse at all everything runs fine...
I've tried all different resolutions and on the lowest its not as bad but still too bad to be playable. Ive also tried low quality visuals and that doesnt seem to help.
Im running a 2.2gig MPB so surely it should be able to handle this program????
Yes, unfortunately everyone currently has this problem.
It's down to the fact that WINE's implementation of the particular graphics API that is used by Red Alert 2 is not terribly fast at the moment. Personally I find that running at the lowest resolution gives me a level of performance on my iMac to make the game just about playable, but it is indeed still a bit too slow to be comfortable.
Red Alert is not the only game affected by this. Many games of similar vintage suffer from the same problem, including other early C&C games.
If I understand things correctly .NET makes use of the same graphics API (known as GDI), so this is likely to get addressed in the medium term.
