Colin McRae: DiRT 3 Forum

Hello all. I'm experiencing an interesting issue while trying to run Dirt 3 through CrossOver 21.2.0 on macOS.

I have two systems, one is a 2020 MBP 13" Intel machine with an RX 580 eGPU, and the game seems to run perfectly at any resolution and any combination of graphics settings.

The other system is a 2021 MBP 14" Apple Silicon machine, and while the game does install and launch through steam, and runs at the correct resolution, it stutters so badly that it's impossible to even navigate the menus let alone play the actual game. Changing any of the graphics settings does not help.

Has anyone else experienced this issue, or does anyone have any idea why there would be such a drastic difference between the same version of crossover on these two systems?

This is a 32-bit game, and there are unfortunately some known issues with 32-bit games on Rosetta 2 :/ Certain 32-bit code instructions are not optimized well in Rosetta 2, which leads to performance issues. We have reported these issues to Apple, but a fix would need to come from them; there's sadly not much we can do.
