I have an identical problem but I am using Vista. Using www.canyourunit.com tells me my Inspiron 1525 laptop does meet minimum requirements and it seems odd to me that all graphics in the game function except the text being jumbled. I know I am not at the recommended but I wasnt for WOW as well and a tech support guy sent me a config file which cured the issue. I am thinking that a similar fix could be used again. Hope you guys are up to the challenge. Thanks
Indeed, Civilization V is listed with a minimum vram requirement of 256M, so this problem is most likely outside the reach of a CrossOver fix. You might get some joy just turning down the game graphics settings or running at a lower resolution.
Hello,
I'm running a Dell Inspiron 1525:
Vista hom premium 32-bit SP2
IP Dual CPU T3200 @ 2.00GHz
3.0GB RAM
Mobile intel 965 express chipset
Paid for and Dl’d the game Civ V from direct 2 drive and steam.
My text is garbled, and looks EXACTLY like the picture in the first posts on this topic.
Everything else about the game runs very smoothly.
It seems odd to me that I can watch the movies and experience the graphics with no probs, but somehow my computer doesnt have the power to process simple text?
I'm running DX9 version. I cannot under any circumstances get the DX10 version to run.
I've read on other forums of the same problem in Mac notebooks . . . garbled text, and after making some adjustments, the text issue seems to resolve.
