Launcher.exe crash when first clicking on 'Play' in PC Steam

Hi Guys,

I'm having trouble getting Civ V to run via PC Steam on my 4Gb Macbook Air 2011 using the Crossover Games trial. It is possible that I'm doing something stupid but I'd really like appreciate any help.

When I load 'Steam (Civ V)' via Crossover Games, Steam loads fine. I click Play and a few seconds later I get an error saying that Launcher.exe has had a serious error (or similar). It is a Crossover Games error message. Steam stays loaded but nothing more happens ref Civ V. I don't even get to the screen where I can choose DirectX.

The setup is as follows - I used Crossover Tie to install the game:

2 Bottles in all.

1 Bottle = Civilisation V. This contains:

  • Civ V, Crossover HTML, DirectX 9, Flash Player 10, Microsoft DirectX Runtime - Modern, VC++ 2008 Redist, MS XML Parser, MS XML Parser MSXML 3.0, Steam (strangely showing twice), and a whole load TrueType fonts (Andale Mono shows twice)

1 Bottle = VC++ 2008 redist + crossover html. I did this as there was a forum post someone that said that VC++ 2008 redist sometimes doesn't install correctly in the Civ V bottle

Does anyone have any thoughts?

Thanks in advance,

Jon

I also saw this today with CrossOver Games 10.3.0 on Fedora 16. I'm going to dig a little deeper and see if I can figure out what's happening..

Alright so my issue was unrelated. I had to install the 32-bit libraries since I'm running Fedora x64.
Missing libraries were found by executing 'cxdiag', however I hear that this is not recommended on OSX since it can be misleading.
