Civ 4 1.74 - Retail DVD (no Steam) on 9.1 and openSuse 11.3 64bit - Gnome - Compiz - works!

This worked out much easier than expected:

  1. Created empty bottle (Windows XP).
  2. Installed MSXML 3.0 on it.
  3. Installed Direct3D Legacy on it.
  4. Installed game from DVD.
  5. Applied 1.74 patch.
  6. Set fullscreen=0 in CivilizationIV.ini
    (which resides under "[linux-home aka ~]/Documents/My Games//Sid Meier's Civilization 4")
  7. Started the game - worked nearly perfect, but mouse scrolling did not work (i.e. if mousepointer comes to window edge, no scrolling).
  8. Set fullscreen in the game's options and restarted the game - everything works - even mouse scrolling 😊
