I tried installing Civ IV in Wine and had much more success this time. The Direct X installation still failed, but I could proceed with the rest of the installation. However, when it got about halfway done copying the files, it asked for disk 2. There is no disk 2. Just one DVD. I tried selecting it multiple times, and it failed.
In any event, I got much further than with 6.0.2. Looking forward to future versions!
I take it back, there is a disk 2, but I can't currently locate it. Will write back as soon as I get a chance to run the installation again.
Alright, with Disk 2 I can complete the entire installation. However, when I try to run the installed software, nothing happens. No error message, no window opened, nothing. It just pauses. I've tried both command line and the icon created by the installation on my desktop (KDE).
So it appears that progress has been made since 6.0 beta 2, but the game still will not run.
