Install the game in a xp bottle;

Then this part: Confront DRM issues (link to http://www.codeweavers.com/support/wiki/dmca)

May you encouter problems in the game (wich i didnt) than you can try the install of this update:
http://www.firaxis.com/games/downloads.php

Note: when starting the game there are some notifications that the game wouldnt not run with this configuration, you can just ignore that by clicking "ok", because it runs properly.

Installed the game + 1.01f patch + XML Parser (msxml3.msi, provided in the link abobe) all in a XP bottle without lunching the game.
Note that the official patch removes the CD check.

The only problem I had was with screen resolution. I couldn't change it in the game without it going all white for a few seconds.
I had to change CivilizationIV.ini located at /Users/YOURUSERNAME/Documents/My Games/Sid Meiers's Civilization IV Colonization/
Near the bottom I had to change the variables "ScreenHeight" and "ScreenWidth".

Works like a charm and does load mods.

The mods has to be placed at /Users/YOURUSERNAME/Library/Apllication Support/CrossOver Games/Bottles/BOTTLENAME/drive_c/Program Files/2K Games/Firaxis Games/Sid Meiers's Civilization IV Colonization/Mods/
