XML parser Bug

Hi,

I've installed the Steam version of Civ4:Colonization and the game dont launch. The error message is: Caught unhandled exception creating XMl parser object Current XML file is:…

Can i update the MSXML parser? Have someone solve this problem?

(XP Bottle)

Thanks for help

Found the solution:

Dont install in a XP-Bottle, use a Win2000 and then install with firefox this file :http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=28494391-052b-42ff-9674-f752bdca9582&DisplayLang=en#filelist

Reboot

Works fine without a bug

(In the same bottle I have BountyBayOnline and it works better now, dont know why)

It might be that your old Steam bottle, where it didn't work, was created a long time ago. In recent versions of CrossOver Games, we install that version of MSXML automatically when you tell CrossOver to install Steam. So, it may be that just creating a new bottle and installing Steam into it would have worked just as well, with no special effort on your part.

This software is a very usefull tip, because i had that error earlier with some games, and i dint know what to do with that error. Now i know in the future ;)

P.s. the reason why BountyBayOnline works better now, is because of the software what apperantly also needed that software.
Ow and you don`t need firefox to download it first in the bottle. You can just with your normal browser download the file and install it via the manage bottle installer.

Yo Paul!

Are you talking about msxml3.msi ?

If so, that is a supported target in COG (show all service
packs and dependencies) in the cxinstallwizard - it downloads
the file for you (;

Yeah thats the file, Ow lolz, didn`t noticed that, hehe, well either way, that program is a must for civ IV;)

Yeah, nurmerous titles may depend on it. A lot of the time, you can
look thru the program installdir (in it's bottle) and look for .xml
files - if you see any, 'on a hunch' you can install this service pack
and see if it solves anything.

On a side note, if you install directx-9 and need to produce a dxdiag.xml
file, last time I looked you had to install msxml.msi to get that happening.
