Civ3 installs but won't start on CrossOver Games 7.2.0

I tried Civlization III Gold Edition, which includes the 1.22f patch, on CrossOver Games 7.2.0 in a variety of bottle types on a 64-bit Ubuntu computer. The game installs cleanly, but it won't start. I suspected a SECDRV.SYS incompatibility and patched it out, but that wasn't the problem.
