Your English isn't very clear, so I'm having to make some guesses on what you mean. Please correct me if I misunderstand you.

You say you used "wine bottler" which seems to be a years-old, unmaintained program based on an outdated version of Wine. If you really are using WineBottler, I suggest removing it and only using CrossOver, which you say you bought. This forum is for running Cities XL 2012 on CrossOver, not WineBottler.

As for installing and running Cities XL 2012 on CrossOver, the Steam version works pretty well for me on Linux. I installed it directly from the Steam client, and it doesn't appear in my system's program menu, but running it from Steam works fine. If you haven't already, please try installing and running it from Steam directly.

If you have a non-Steam version, please post where you got it, and someone else who has the same version might be able to help.

Just got done installing and running Cities Xl 2012 on OSX Mountain Lion with Crossover 11.2.0. It worked right after the install then I quit and tried to start it again. That when it failed but I figured out the problem with the activation. If you disconnect from the internet then run Cities Xl 2012 the activation window will come up and say that it failed. Reconnect to the internet and hit try again. It will activate and the game will run.

1)if the game/application isn't on the list of software just choose 'Other Application' (I think it's that)
Then choose the Cities XL 2012 installer as the installer file/folder
Then follow the prompts
see if it works- I personally have never played the game, but I'll give it a try later

2) if you really want to play the game, dual-booting Windows might make it run- as long as the correct drivers are available and work on your mac. Plus you'd have to shell out for Windows license.
Bootcamp enables 'dualbooting', which means that you can have both a Windows partition and a Mac partition on your mac- to switch between the two, turn the computer on and hold the Alt (Option) key, then you can choose which you want to boot. So no, you do not lose your mac part forever.

I'd recommend trying Cities in Crossover as it might work, plus it saves you the hassle of having to reboot every time you want to play the game.

Hope I helped, if you're still unsure just reply.
Alex
