Echoes from the past...

I've only ever used Wine before to install this application. And while it worked....it would not update and run its most current version. Considering that the server is updated by Chronicle Software, the end user has no control over the version in use. If I am able to get Chronicle up and running in BSD (FreeBSD/PC-BSD) then it may only work until the next release of the software. I'll post screenshots and tips as I work out all of the kinks.

I've tried this one on both PC-BSD and Ubuntu 9.04. The application installs, then after login it asks for an update. If you accept this update, and why wouldn't you...then things begin to go wrong. The application will still start up, but functionality is hampered enough to call this one not working.

With that said, I have spoken to one of the programmers at Chronicle and we believe the problem lies in permissions. Chronicle requires local system admin permissions in order to properly update itself. Perhaps this is the problem, or perhaps there is something else that I'm not yet aware of.
