Well, good news, everyone! It works on Mac OSX 10.6.7 with CXG10. All I needed to do was make an ordinary Steam bottle, install IE8 from Microsoft (yes, this is necessary, or the launcher won't work correctly), and then download the game via Steam. The game config made a fuss about my video card (Nvidia 9400M), so I set it to lower settings, and it plays like normal.
I installed IE8 and was able to get something other than a white screen with "loading.. please wait"
Now i get a "Certification error" on the login window and i have two choices to either close the page(which it wont do) or continue on and ignore the error(which it wont do) I've tried looking up this problem via google and found solutions on how to get passed it, but no direction on how to do so on IE8 via crossover. I get no URL bar or options when opening IE8 with crossover so i am unable to do the steps needed to bypass the certificate error..
Any help on this?
I'm using CXG 9.2 and mac OSX 10.4.11
Hmm, I'm not an expert by any means, and could very well be wrong, but I suspect it may be an issue with your software versions. Unless someone here has managed to install without the certification error on CXG9.2 and OSX10.4, I fear it might be because one (or both) of those are outdated.
However, you could try running IE8 through crossover and see if you can tinker with the toolbar there. Just don't navigate to any websites beyond the homepage IE starts with, as IE8 isn't particularly secure to begin with and is less so when you're running it through something like a Mac.
Another possibility is to go to Manage Bottles, open the bottle where you've installed Champs and IE, and go to the Control Panel tab. In that window should be an Icon for internet options. Double click that and modify the settings as you need from there. I can't guarantee it will work, but it is definitely worth a try. Let me know what you find out.
Okay i can get to the internet options and i can add trusted sites by their url's. I would try this method but i have no url bar for the login screen so i can't add it. If someone knows the login/updater url could they post it here?
Also i can add certificates in the internet options. if someone can find out what certificate the updater needs i could download it and install it manually.
if neither of those work i have no idea what to do. is there something in the advanced security settings i should uncheck/check?
Thank for the help! :D
Hi,
You don't need IE8 for this at all (assuming Crossover Games) and the Steam release
does work on OSX but YMMV depending on what video chipset/card your Mac has. All you
have to do is pay attention to the following points...
*Some model Macs (my HD5670 fitted iMac for one) will not run this title unless you
have 'Emulated virtual desktop' enabled in the Wine Configuration for the bottle...and
you probably should set 'Desktop size' to 1024x768 (or bigger)
*You need to install the following into the same bottle (this package is also available
in the 'Community Supported Applications' section of the cxinstaller GUI as 'Microsoft
HTML Rendering Engine 7') ;
http://www.codeweavers.com/compatibility/browse/name/?app_id=7854
*Start the game with lowered graphics settings if it prompts you about video card capabilities.
Using the 'default' settings may not work on all Macs.
You don't have to fiddle with internet settings or trusted sites or any of that rubbish.
Cheers!
