Works, but no sound.

Install instructions:

Install the game via C4P file.
Then upgrade/patch game to 1.2. Then from 1.2 --> 1.4. Then from 1.4 --> 1.5. Then from 1.5 --> 1.6.
Yeah, lots of patches and big files too.

Then The cd copy protection issue.
Then the game should run without errors.
However there is no sound. And gameplay is a bit slow, but maybe its because my system is to slow.

Would this work if I downloaded the steam version?

possibly, but not necessarily

I'm not sure how to improve performance but I do know how to get the sound to work. In order to do so, you will need to download Wine for mac. Once you have this, click the wine bottle icon at the top and select change prefix. Now go to the prefix where the name of you Call of Duty - World at War bottle (my bottle was named CoDWaW so I selected the prefix CoDWaW). After changing the prefix, click the wine icon again but this time select winetricks. When the window pops up, type in win7 in the search bar. Select the second option and press okay. This will turn your CoDWaW bottle to windows 7. Now exit out of wine and launch Crossover Games. Go to the control panel for your CoDWaW bottle (it is accessed via configure-manage bottles) and double click on wine config. When the wine config opens up, select the applications tab, click add application and find "codwaw.exe" and "codwawmp.exe". After adding these applications, click on the thing next to "Windows Version" select widows 7 for both and hit apply. Now when you restart the game, you should be able to hear sound.

May I ask, which version of Wine for Mac are you using, is it a pre-compiled binary etc. or is it WineBottler or PlayOnMac?

Thank you for your assistance.

Brett

Got it to work, using your instructions and Mike Kronenberg's build of Wine 1.2.2 - thanks for the guide.

I have the steam version. It works, but no sound.

JMizero, I tried what you mentioned, but it didn't work. I must be doing something wrong.

You said:

No options came up.
Everything else seemed normal.

Does anybody else have any other ideas?

I got this when i tried to access the winetricks. The menu was empty and when i typed win7 it was still empty. i eventually closed wintricks and opened it through the wine bar again, then the menu worked. Could just be a bug.

It recurred on Crossover 14.
