No sound

Does anyone else have trouble with sound when in menus or in-game? The in-game videos all have sound though which seems strange to me. In my bottle configuration my audio setting is set to the ALSA driver with full hardware acceleration, 44KHz sample rate and 16 bits per sample. Am I doing something wrong?

I don't have this game (yet), but in some games it helps if you change that full hardware acceleration to emulation.

Didn't work using emulation but what did work was reinstalling the Pulse driver and daemon. I'm happy now that I don't need to boot back into Windows to play and it actually plays pretty decently considering my video card is older. :D

Yes I have. Videos have sounds, but menu and game itself not. Pulseaudio deinstalled and running Alsa for everything. Looks like the game runs under normal wine with pulseaudio, special winepulse and dsound set to native. As pulseaudio causes problems since it release I won't install it again and instead wait for patch (should come soon, because windows7 user also doesn't have sound)... I love to pay sixty bucks for a game which even doesn't run under the OS its build for.... I think this will be the last CoD part for me. The best was CoD2, everything after that just was totally bugged and gameplay sucked...

I got sound to work by: ALSA with emulation, set dsound to builtin, disabled mmdevapi, and added registry key HKCU/Software/Wine/DirectSound/MaxShadowSize=0.

The only problem is the performance... Barely playable.

Works great, thanks for the tip. The game performance is good. Maybe deactivate AA and shadows.

I have deactivated everything possible, even edited the config file by hand to turn off everything I could (you cannot turn off everything from the menus). Still I get average 15fps, sometimes only 10, if nothing much is happening, maybe 20. (You can measure this with /seta cg_drawFPS "Simple" console command).

I have 3GHz core 2, 4gb ram, nvidia 260gt, COD:MW2 runs just fine.

Resolution has no effect, Same fps whether I use 800x600 or 1680x1050, fullscreen or windowed, tried to disable / enable UseGLSL in registry, no help.

(Btw, I have had these sound issues lately in many games, the above spell seems to fix them usually.)

EDIT: I have steam version, if that makes a difference (or can this be even played without steam?)

I finally got sound working again by reinstalling the Pulse audio driver. Just can't get any maps to load in SP or MP now after changing my gfx card. :(
