Burnout Paradise: The Ultimate Box Forum

I'm running CXG 8.1.4 and just installed the BP trial. Setup worked for the most part aside from a few buttons not showing properly. The game however, crashes shortly after the splash screen with Wine's "program error" window. I added the OffScreenRendering setting that was suggested in the tips & tricks, but it doesn't seem to help. Any ideas where I can look or poke around to try to get this working? If I can verify the trial runs smooth, I'll likely look into getting the full version. Thanks!

Actually, I found the answer a couple hours ago (sorta). Seems the DirectX SDK (or something else) is required to make the game run. I used the "Steam" installer to get the bottle setup, but stopped the actual Steam client install (just let the dependent parts install). After doing that and making the change to the user.reg file, the game seems to function fine (low quality, but playable). I'm a little surprised to see that those "dependent" files are not available on the install selection screen in some way. I only had the idea when I noticed both my GuildWars and Steam installations had many more "dependent" files installed.

On the Mac, you'll have to uncheck the 'hide service pack & dependencies'
bit in installer assistant I think, to see those installation targets.
