What is the current state of BBO under WINE for Linux? Information is a bit scanty, although it seems that it is possible to install and run BBO using WINE. However, if the ActiveX control plugin for Firefox is required, then that's a bit of a problem, as no version of the plugin exists for Firefox 2.0... the latest is for Firefox 1.5.x.
Does anyone have clear, up-to-date, complete instructions for installing and running BBO on Linux?
You don't need ActiveX control ... you do need to edit the bbover.ini file, however:
[SYSTEM]
LINUX_WINE=Y
BROWSER_TYPE=E
By default, the first line is N
The second line needs to be E for External browser if you're not using ActiveX. Supposedly everything works except possibly the News popup window when you first log in. I'm running BBO under Wine, and I do not get the News popup.
Finally, you need to find the symbol.ttf file from somewhere (it comes standard with Windows) and install it in one of your font directories. In my case, I put it here:
/usr/share/fonts/msttcorefonts/
That gives it a home with the fonts that come with the msttcorefonts RPM file.
