Running a legacy C++ application on a Mac

I'm currently running a legacy database application, which was written in C++ and uses BDE, under WinXP.

It will run under Win7 (32-bit), but not under Win7 (64-bit) or Win8 (32-bit or 64-bit).

Can anybody tell me if will be able to run it on a Mac under 'Parallels'?

I don't want to invest in a Mac if it isn't gonna work.

The application won't install on a 64-bit OS, which isn't really surprising. But it installs OK under Win8 (32-bit), but BDE doesn't work, so I can't open, or manipulate any databases.

Anybody had any experience of this?

Niknek

There is no working port of the BDE on 64bit systems (and will never be).
Regarding to your "Parallels" Question you are maybe in the wrong forum, due to the fact that parallels is some sort of virtualisation software like VirtualBox or VMWare you need an installed windows version. That means you have to install Windows XP (32bit) on your parallels desktop and maybe use your software then.

If your question is: "May my program run on wine/crossover?" The answer may be yes.

The program "Appman97" (http://www.codeweavers.com/compatibility/browse/name/?app_id=9301) works on
wine/crossover and this program is driven by the BDE. It should also work on Mac but don't count on it.

It should be noted that if you are currently using Windows for your apps and want to jump into the mac stuff with some sort of wine parallels something running your old apps that will not feel good for your haptic.
The apps will ne run integrated and doesn't feel native, on virtualisation it is also a mixed situation. Be warned.
