Unable to start or load a game

Hi!
I just found this gem again, and wanted to try it out on my Mac and CrossOver.
I have hit a roadblock, where I am unable to start a new game or load an old one. The game starts fine otherwise.
When trying, the game just freezes.

I am using a MacBook Pro M2 Max and CrossOver 24.0.4

Any ideas?
