New crosstie

Hello,

I've just created what I consider to be a better crosstie for this title. It should handle both the GamersGate and Steam versions. It disables CSMT only for Bioshock.exe which should make it compatible with other bottles.

If the install is done via Steam, it will create a registry key that prevents Steam from attempting to install DirectX again. It will probably fail anyway and it's already installed as a pre-dependency for Steam.

I also added two articles in the Tips & Tricks section for setting resolution and fixing the annoying (but benign?) crash on exit.

Have fun,
Silviu

Update: CrossTie is now online

I'm having some issues getting this game (Steam version) to work on my 2013 MacBook Pro Retina using this CrossTie.

Running CrossOver Version 13.1.3 (13.1.3.27712), OS X 10.9.3. Installation via CrossTie works, Steam works, but the game fails to run properly. Issues that occur are:

  1. Mouse pointer on initial startup menu is a square or rectangular block of pixelated "noise"
  2. Key dynamic elements don't display correctly. For example, in the air crash scene, moving underwater objects are represented by multiple square layers of random-looking pixels in line with the approximate motion of the object, the fire & water on the surface is visible but the sinking plane is not visible save for the red light on the tail, doors to lighthouse do not display, even when "closed" are transparent / non existent etc.
  3. Game crashes randomly, but never have gotten further than the docking of the Bathysphere at Rapture
  4. Bioshock.exe crashes on exit if closed prior to a cash
  5. With performance graphics enabled or disabled, these same issues occur
  6. Running with -dx9 startup option doesn't improve the situation

A trace shows the following error messages:

I raised a support ticket but Codeweavers don't support this game, so no luck there.

Does anyone have suggestions how to get it working please?

P.S. Interestingly the game works perfectly on my Radeon-equipped mid-2011 Mac mini ...
