Tips for installing BioEdit

BioEdit works good if you first install the Microsoft Data Access Components (MDAC) 2.5 Service Pack 3 (SP3) on the bottle where you install BioEdit.

You can currently (as of 10 november 2012) get MDAC 2.5 SP3 from: http://www.vcnonline.com/downloads/mdac_typ.exe

Could you test it with MDAC 2.8 ? If it works fine for you then I could prepare a crosstie for it.

I'm sorry for not responding earlier.

But if it's still relevant I did test with MDAC 2.8 SP1, from the list of runtime support components (which I didn't notice last time) that is available in the software installer, and by the limited testing I did BioEdit seems to be working fine with MDAC 2.8 SP1. It still runs a bit slowly though, but that may be my computer or some setting that should be tweaked.
