I have an M4 Pro Mac Mini booting MacOS 15.3.1. Battlestar Galactica Deadlock is currently on sale at GOG.com at a 70% discount for the base game so I figured I'd try it with Crossover since the couple of YouTube videos I saw of the gameplay looked really interesting and I am a fan of the earlier seasons of the "reimagined" version of the Battlestar Galactica TV series which launched in 2004, especially the initial miniseries.
There is no Crosstie for this game in Crossover's database so I created a Windows 10 64-bit bottle, installed DirectX for Modern Games into the bottle, then downloaded GOG's "offline backup installers" for the game's 1.5.113 version and installed from there. The installation proceeded without incident, I exited the installer, enabled DXVK in the bottle, then launched the game. At the Ultra graphics preset the game looks great and plays perfectly. My "testing" was very brief but there were no crashes or glitches and everything looked amazing and performed smoothly.
I also tested D3DMetal alone, D3DMetal with ESync, and D3DMetal with MSync and didn't see any difference in performance – no surprise since Battle Galactica Deadlock is a DirectX 11 game. So I went back to DXVK which usually seems to be the best bottle setting for DirectX 11 games.
I have no idea when I will actually have time to play this game but I am looking forward to getting to it one of these days. I did play through the first two tutorial missions and the game is really fun and looks amazing. The "replay" option at the end of each battle is incredible – instead of some cutscene you get a shaky-cam review of the battle you just played in real time which looks like action right out of the TV show! I love it!
As I write this all 8 DLCs are also on sale at GOG.com at a 30%-40% discount for each. I'm going to hold off because I still have no idea when I'll have time to play the base game I already own. Really can't wait to put aside some time for this. So say we all!
