I am unable to install the game. I get to the point where you can choose the install path.
If you click browse it crashes with "Not defined Error" and if you just click ok it disappears.

I was able to install it in Crossover Games 7.2.1 on OS X, but received a runtime error when I ran it.
This game definitely doesn't run. I tried it before I submitted the application to the database and it didn't work. I submitted it so it might get a bit more attention and may possibly be supported by the time it is actually released. It is so heavily dependent on the browser to even run the game and that isn't well supported at all in CrossOver. Wait until they have full support for Internet Explorer 7, then maybe send one of the staff an email asking if support will ever come to make them aware of the game.

How did you do that? You need IE7 for this...I used Crossover Games also..But i dont get the active x notification to install the game.
I undertsand you have professional.
I managed to get into the game, and it ran quite nicely, but after 10-20 seconds Punkbuster kicks you out. If you want to get it running, install the Windows version of Firefox to play BF Heroes on. Then follow the guide for getting it to run on Wine:
1) configure wine to use a 1024x768 virtual desktop and set the version to windows XP
2)download www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=200b2fd9-ae1a-4a14-984d-389c36f85647&displaylang=en
3) go to the beta site and donwloadthe game
4) if there are graphic bugs (blocky shadows) launch regedit and add HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Wine\AppDefaults\BFHeroes.exe\Direct3D and then make a new string and call it OffscreenRenderingMode then set its value to fbo
5) if the game crashes at the charater selction then delet the battflield heroes folder from the home directroy
6) have fun playing the game
you need to do the registry hack for the game to run smoothly and display proper shadows. The only issue once in the game -aside from punk buster- is this annoying white line you get on the side of the screen. The same issue happens in Wine:
The game works without the graphic bugs, issue for me is the punkbuster and the launcher in firefox 3.5.1, the solution is to run it in safemode. Punkbuster issue i will try to fix.

Punkbuster problem fixt by: Installing punkbuster in the bottle. Now the next thing is to download punkbuster htm file for the recent version of battlefield heroes manually.
http://www.evenbalance.com/index.php?page=dl-heroes.php her you have to download (at the moment) wc002192.htm, and copy the file in the folder PB --> htm. When running the game now you will notice, you wont get kicked by PB.
Edit: it worked once...trying to figure out the problem..
Hi can somebody give me a SIMPLE tutorial for getting this to work on CrossOver Games 8.0.0 Mac OS X Leopard. I don't understand all the technical stuff. If somebody can tell me how to do this I would be very grateful.
Rory
This game is not for now supported, so i don't think there is a "simple" tutorial to have it running.
I personally tested the above method with crossover games 8.0 rc1 and it doesn't give any result.

Look at the tip tricks sections for all the details.
How do you do this? I get to select language section and then it disappears and nothing happens. I'm running the firefox 3.5.3 because I can't find the link to the other ones. If somebody has a link can they post it please? Which version of CrossOver is this?
Read the tip and trick section about the how tos and don't use the newest browser of firefox. The launcher wont start then. But just do exactly what i described in the tips/tricks. Its a tricky thing to get this in work. Thats why its bronze. Us an old firefox version. 3.5.1 or older is my recommendation. In the tips and tricks also states that in installation part, you don
t see a thing and it looks like noting happens, but there is happening things, but you cant see it. Just wait until the download stream stops.

I'm going to try my luck in installing this.
It really would be awsome if this game got more attention, even to the degree that it got supported.
Feels like this is the cinda' game that fits codeweavers profile. It would be great imo for you to say, "hey, try out crossover games with any game you have or try the free battlefield heroes if you just want a feel for how things run under crossover!"
Anyways, thanks for everything you guys do and keep going.
I'll report back if this works for me or not.
Hmm, I'm running 8.0.0 and I can't get past the "Chose Language" screen.
After I press "ok" the screen disappears and no activity is registered in the task manager nor little snitch.
I tried to leave it for 10min or so, but still nothing.
Any further ideas?
