MAC OSX

Step 1: First download the files below

Patch 1.6.19 http://www.gamershell.com/download_5004.shtml (258 MB)
incremental patch 1.6: http://www.gamershell.com/download_7710.shtml (6.5 MB)

Step 2: Put the battlefield 1942 cd in the drive and choose express install
Step 3: Walk through the installer till it is installed.
Step 4: Install the Big update first (via managed bottles --> install software --> installer file, in the bottle of
battlefield 1942)
Step 5: Install the incremental update via the same way as step 4

Step 6a: Then this part: Confront DRM issues (link to http://www.codeweavers.com/support/wiki/dmca)

Step 6b: When you run now the game it will start but hen you start a campaign the screen is messed up. We dont want that.
Step 7: Go to manage bottles -> control panel --> winecfg --> graphical tab -->
make sure you also unselect all 4 options (directx, decoration and manage windows and virtual desktop)
Step 8: Now start the game, it will start in a window. Now it wil run (not messed up).
Step 9: Make always sure, you have the Battlefield 1942 cd physically in the drive when you start the game! Otherwise it wont start!

I've tried to follow these directions, but it seems that no matter what, the game just automatically closes. I've tried following this to the T, although I'm using CX Games 8.0

Do you use a Mac or Linux?
Tell me as much as you can how you tried to get the game work?

Note: You need the cd in the drive to play it. erhaps thats the issue....

Does this solve the problem?

It was CX-Games Mac. And I didn't know I still needed the CD in the drive, I will try again :)

Hello, Ive managed to follow all of your steps and my game still doesnt not run correctly (on mac osx) I belive after carefully looking through the instructions i believe that there is some information missing from part 7? Which may be why my game does not run correctly, the problem is that the text on all the menus is messed up there all missing the top of the characters and when starting a mission it does chop off the top of the screen into another section. Im not sure if this is caused by not being able to follow number 7 correctly or not. But ive got this far now and would reealy like this game to work.

ok i get my certificate this morning so i have time again. Well Ok if you unchecked on the graphic tab in winecfg the 4 checkboxes, and you still have the issue, then its weird. What version of crossover games you have? 8.0? Have you update the game to version 1.6 (patch?) Do you have the 2 cd version? or a dvd version? (if it exists).

this is driving me insane!! ive been following this game for years now trying to get it to work, ive followed EVERY step on my macbook with crossover 8.0 installed and every time it shows the tank icon at hte bottom of my dashboard, then it disappears, no start up, nothing! i have the CD version with all the expansion packs. apparently its supposed to run flawlessly on 8.0 but i cant even get it to run at all. please help, i used to LOVE this game and i really really want to play it again.

Your sanity I cannot fix ;) I can however explain things for you...

Where above one of our most magnificent ninjas has included edits
starting with "The Digital Rights Management (DRM) software in this
program prevents it from running in CrossOver...", what is being
said there is 'DRM'...ie; copy protection....is not yet working in
crossover games (in all cases). Usually, these kinds of DRM take the
form of the so called 'CD check', and this can fail for a number of
reasons. In the case of MacOSX, one of the most common causes of such
failures, are limitations related to the mac scsi drivers - linux fairs
a little better in these regards...

People have been able to get this running however - my best advice to
you is to have a read of the WineHQ AppDB entry for this title....see;

I installed the updates on the same bottle,

The Digital Rights Management (DRM) software in this program
prevents it from running in CrossOver. If you are in a legal jurisdiction
which allows removal of such software, you may have luck running this
program. Unfortunately, CodeWeavers, because they are subject to the
Digital Millennium Copyright Act, will be unable to support you.

I'm getting a different problem here. Games 8.0, Snowleopard. When I launch it, it goes to a full black screen and then bombs out with the error:

Rustinpeace91 had the same problem as you had, because of the world war II anthology edition.
So I think the problem is in the game edition. I use the 2 cd version of BF1942 (Which works).

You might install the game custom so that you only install battlefield 1942 without the expansion packs (If that is possible).
Otherwise I don’t know how you can make that edition run because I don’t have that version of the game.

You step by step guide is working fine with this version.
All products are working (Version 8.1.4).

Hi guys,

I know I am late to this but I have followed all steps and i get a problem when i try and initiate the game. For a split second it shows bf1942 (cd verifying screen) and then quits. I am currently on the trial for this software and am running a Macbook pro with snow leopard and the demo version of crossover. Any help would be much appreciated!

i own BF but when i tried to run it i get through the intro then it goes to a blank screen

No worries, in a very short while i make a c4P file of this including all the updates and stuff...be patient on this one :)
The issue some of you guys run into is the (DRM) cd copyprotection.
