A bit of a problem...

So my friend got CrossOver on his Mac not long before he bought a new one, so I have it now. (Yayz :B)

Unfortunately, I have NO idea what I'm doing, and he deleted all of the bottles to clear up space for me.

Now that the backstory is complete, here's my problem.

I want to play Battle of the Immortals, so I got the install, and ran it through CrossOver (with a guide of how to install stuff), and then it started to run. Nice and all, I was a bit skeptical that the images and buttons of the updater worked, but nothing was behind them. Once it updated, I clicked run.

Now, I can hear the music, but the screen itself is grey. Anyone know what to do?

I'm not computer savvy, so I just click the About This Mac when I need to post some specs:

Mac OS X 10.5.8
Processor 2GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
Memory 1GB 1067 MHz DDR3

Not sure what to do for more advanced specs.

So can anyone help me with my problem? I really need my PC games fix (yes, i'm addicted, get over it. I LOVE GAMEZ >_<)

Keep in mind I'm not good with the techy stuff, so try and "dumbify" it for me. (I know, i'm stupid)

Hi,

I can't help you with your problem, but I do know before anyone can
help you with this, they would need to know what video card/chipset
your mac has. You can get this info from Applications->Utilities->System Profiler...

Cheers!

I think this be what joo r looking fore :B

And in case I'm unable to run it (because my Mac is a particular sucky one), does anyone know some good MMORPG's out thar that I CAN run?

P.S. I also noticed methinks I posted this in the wrong app forum...if somebody could just move this...or, at least, tell me I need to copy all this and give me about a day before you delete it.

Hi again,

Thanks for the info...I'll mention to one of the Ninjas to move this thread
to the appropriate forum...

Cheers!

Before you do anything else, have you tried using the c4p installer on the main page for Battle of the Immortals?

http://www.codeweavers.com/compatibility/browse/name/?app_id=7548

It should be pre-loaded to configure itself on your Mac without too much trouble (exactly what c4ps are for!).

If you continue to have trouble, you should consider submitting a support ticket or emailing info@codeweavers.com, you can tell them I sent you and that you're trying to get an Perfect World Inc game running. Your system should have enough heft to run this game (I've run Perfect World, Ether Saga and Jade Dynasty on my GMA950 Mac, I think you have a better chance than I did!).

Finally, you didn't say if you were running CrossOver or CrossOver Games... I know that Battle of the Immortals runs (and is very nice eye candy!), but only with CrossOver Games.

It may just be regular CrossOver, i'm not entirely sure. But, in case it is just regular CrossOver, does that mean I have to pay for CrossOver Games? I hope I don't, because whether or not it's cheap I just can't do that. sadface :(

If you purchase(d) CrossOver Pro, that includes a license for CrossOver Games. So, you can download and register CrossOver Games for no extra charge.

If you purchased CrossOver Standard, that does not include CrossOver Games. If you meant to buy CrossOver Games instead of CrossOver Standard, open a support ticket and they can get that straightened out.

If you want both CrossOver Standard and CrossOver Games, then you have to buy them separately (although Pro is a better deal).

well, as mentioned before, I didn't buy it, my friend bought it on his Mac, and then shortly after he got a gaming PC, then forgot all about it. I asked him if he could remember anything about it, like his account or if he saved any emails, in case I needed it for help.

Unfortunately, he did not, so I'm left with just regular CrossOver, with no way to buy CrossOver Games. It wasn't until a while ago (sometime today) I talked to him and said "Hey dude, you needed the Games version, not just regular" he said he knew, but didn't care because he was getting his PC. Then I asked if he HAD the Games version, and he said no.

So now I'm left with regular CrossOver, instead of CrossOver Games, and I won't be able to get a PC for a LONG time. However, I figure though if I can get CrossOver Games, and save up money to contribute to having my most sought-after games (Allods, Fantasy Earth Zero, etc.) work on it, I won't need to buy a gaming PC.

It would save me a lot of time and money, the only reason I don't want to save up and buy the games version is because I don't think I should have to. Plus what with having virtually no money and possible future fees for the appropriate resources I need in pursuit of my career (game design/modeling), it's hard to plan out a good spending plan.

Hi again,

Are you saying that your friend gave/sold you his copy of Crossover or something like this?

If so, I'm unsure what the policy is regarding the transfer of a usage license, but if you didn't
buy Crossover yourself in the first place, then you yourself would have no valid support license.

That said, the Codeweavers support/sales team are extremely understanding, so like Ken suggests,
you should email info@codeweavers.com (which is equivalent to opening a ticket) and explain to
them the situation -- I imagine your friend would need to verify the exchange (supposing there's
any support time left on their Crossover license), but if your friend's license has expired, you
may have to buy Crossover Games yourself...the exact situation is unclear, so you'd need pursue
that with the Codeweavers staff, not here on the forums -- there is nothing we can do about this
situation in this thread....

Cheers!

I'm using crossover Games for a month now.... I play battle of Immortals everyday until yesterday (Nov.10) after uploading or upgrading the Latest patch of BOI (battle of Immortals), I can't play anymore.

BOI Launcher works up to selection of Server...using mouse click..
But when it comes to loging-in my account name & password the problem starts, because my keyboard won't work.

I tried to restart my pc & try to log-in the game, sometimes i got lucky to enter my username & password... but once im in the game my mouse work fine but my keyboard wont work again. i tried typing in on the chat window or pressing the hot key of the game.. still nothing happens.

any idea what to do?

I also tried downloading the battle of Immortals using c4p but same problem occurs.

Hope to hear from you guys.

Thank you.

I'm having same problem as person above. I can't get my keyboard to work with this game anymore after they updated their game. =/

Is there any chance that the game is putting up a dialog window that is either behind the main window or barely on-screen such that you're not noticing it? If it's a dialog behind the main window, you can try Command-right-arrow to cycle through the windows.

Have you tried configuring the bottle to use a virtual desktop window? That can sometimes fix issues with window focus.

You can try launching another Windows program in the same bottle and then switching focus back and forth between that program and the game. A simple candidate for the other program is the built-in Notepad. Just do Programs > Run Command, select the bottle, and type "notepad" for the command.

Actually, the keyboard problem seems to be a problem on several of the PWI games. You can get around it by changing the in-game setting from 'windowed' to 'full screen' (note the resolution you had selected for the next step).

If you still want the game to be 'windowed' you can make an adjustment in Wine Configuration...

Open the Bottle Manager

Select the PWI game bottle

Select 'Control Panel'

Launch 'Wine Configuration'

Go the the 'Graphics' tab

Select 'Emulate a virtual desktop' and specify the 'Desktop size:'

Uhm, I tried both getting to full screen and using the emulate desktop, and neither solved the problem >.<
Any other ideas?
Thanks

Edit: By the way, you can write with the keyboard in-game, but only about 1 letter at a time. The thing is, each time you change windows there is a really tiny bit of a second that your keyboard works, maybe that's because when you change windows the keyboard grips the focus again, but then you lose it and can't write even 2 letters, only one. So basically, you can do that with an text editor from mac and clicking on it and then back at the game, but if you emulate a desktop via wine, then you have to open notepad on CX and do it by alternating click from the game window and notepad. Still makes no sense to me.
Anyone knows what's happening?
Maybe directX issue?
Furthermore, I read the following in BOI forum:
"a guy in the other post says that for him is worked switching the ddr from openal to gdi, but he never replies us in the other post...
btw i have tryed to do that but for me doesn't work...
before to do that i have also removed wine and its apps, and installed the latest beta version.
in the latest versions there is winetricks, to do switch i have done this command in terminal:
env WINEPREFIX="/home/username/.wine" winetricks ddr=gdi
change username with your username. but nothing change for me."
Anyone knows what's that openal and gdi stuff? I really have no idea what I'm doing XD
If that works for anyone, let me know, please
Thanks guys
