Arkham Origins port or crossover/wineskin solution

I would love to see this game get properly ported by feral interactive and made available on steam (like Arkham City) but in the meantime it would be nice to see a crossover solution.

Someone from the porting team website has made a wineskin for the game already but I haven't tried it yet:

Hello,

Create a clean Steam bottle and try installing it. It still uses Unreal Engine v.3 so it will probably work with CrossOver. I don't have the game yet so I could not mess around with it.

According to steamdb you will need:

VC++ 2010
.NET 4.0
Nvidia PhysX

All of the above are installable via CrossOver but make sure to choose the correct bottle.

Thanks! I will definitely try that.

Ok so Ive tried this and the game does start but the sound is choppy and the opening nvidia intro/logo freezes and thus i can't even get to the main game menu let alone the actual gameplay itself. I am assuming that the gameplay will be unplayable as batman arkham asylum and city don't run at all on crossover, however there are official mac versions for those two.

EDIT: I remember trying to install another game and it didn't run well until I found out I had to access the regedit thing in crossover and enable certain things such a open CL... are there things that may need to be adjusted in the regedit window to enable this game to run? (I'm not great with this kind of stuff, it's all a bit beyond me but I can work it out and understand it with a bit of assistance from someone who does.)

Actually, both Arkham Asylum and Arkham City do run in CrossOver. I know this because I've tested them and created the crossties to install them.

Granted I can only test and speak for the Linux side of things.

WineHQ can be a good resource. So far only linux users seemed to have any success running the game.

I'm having trouble just in the intro logo nvidia. The game just freezes. Got any solutions? I have not tested the wrapper link above.

I had the same trouble (I'm on a Mac). You have to download all the whatnot form crossover and then download the game from Steam (or wherever).

Here is the list I sent to my brother to get it working on his computer. If you don't do step 2 the game won't load properly and will frees on the nvidia screen and not work.

  1. Download Crossover
  2. Download PC steam on crossover.
  3. Download Batman on Crossover
  4. Download Batman on PC Steam
  5. Open game and change all settings to Ugly
  6. Become Batman!!!!!!

After I posted above the game stopped working and after fighting with it I have decided that if you changed the frame rate of the game (to make it actually work without killer lag) you can play for as long as you want but the next to you try to load the game it will get stuck on the Ninvida screen. When that happens you have to download it again with crosstie. I am hoping that if you change the frame rate back before you quite this will not happen but I haven't tested that yet.

P.S. I don't know if this is necessary but I open multiplay first and then quite out of it and start the main game. I read online somewhere that doing that sometimes helps.

Tried this game today and it works really well. It doesn't take over the screen when launched so you have to ALT+TAB into it but otherwise it seems pretty good.

I've not tried multiplayer. The one problem I do have is I can't get my Xbox controller to work. The Crossover Controllers panel sees it but the game does not pick it up.

Anyone any suggestions?

For xbox controllers a DirectInput to Xinput wrapper like https://code.google.com/p/x360ce/ may help.

I installed the xboxdrv in Opensuse and then found a post on Ubuntu forms about

Xbox360Controller_WINE.zip

Basically with the xboxdrv install you unzip this file and drop the two files it creates into the same folder as your programs exe.
So far it has worked, almost perfect, for me in Arkam Origins and Skyrim.

I say almost perfect as I can't seem to get the D-pad working.
But I'm still working on it.
