FYI, I tried babaschess on the 2010 codeweavers (not games) demo and it works.

I went to unsupported applications, chose other application, and chose the babas install download as the installer file.
Then I selected a winXP bottle and named it babaschess. The first install attempt stalled, but the second try loaded fine.

Note, the pieces didn't appear at first. But, I went to preferences and selected different pieces (e.g. winboard vector)
that did appear. Finally, I downloaded the babas graphics pack into the same babaschess bottle and it has several bitmap pieces that work too.

It looks good, except the pieces are not quite as good as what I normally use on Windows. Still tweaking though.

So far no crashes or issues after playing 3 games. I'm using a OS 10.6.3 with an intel core duo.

Just a small query regarding graphics quality/look ;
have you tried installing the directx runtime package
into the same bottle? It may or may not help, but it'd
be something to try in these regards...

I also found it to be working on Crossover 9.0.1 ( Non games )

All was working fine under Ubuntu 9.04 including graphics. Just installed Ubuntu 10.04 and hit the same problem with pieces

Could not install directx via the menu's just timed out accessing the internet. Seems a few applications have problems accessing the internet in 10.04. I have ipv6 disabled (I think). Installed via a download but made no difference. Really regretting upgrading to Ubuntu 10.04 no end of niggles.

Just tried with Crossover 9.2.0 and no problems. No need to change board to vector
