Steps:

1. Install Internet Explorer 6.0. This is needed by the AutoCAD 2004 setup program.

2. Install AutoCAD 2004.

The installation process was very, very, very, very (and realy very) slow, and takes, in my case around ALL THE DAY to install, but finally.

At Try to run it doesn't find the DLL's, then use the --workdir option point to:

"$HOME/.cxoffice/BUTTLE/drive_c/Program Files/Common Files/Autodesk Shared"

The log doesn't report any DLL missing, but now it report the next error, and the program doesn't run:

err:module:LdrInitializeThunk "adlmdll.dll" failed to initialize, aborting
err:module:LdrInitializeThunk Main exe initialization for L"C:\\Program Files\\AutoCAD 2004\\acad.exe" failed, status c0000142

I have arrived at the same error message as you, but in a different manner. I have AutoCAD 2008 on hand and am trying that. I had no luck making the installer go. Instead I tried to use the existing install on my bootcamp partition. I got the million missing DLL message and then I copied the entire MSxS directory form the bootcamp windows install into the corresponding place for the version of wine I'm running. I bet ADLM stands for: 'auto desk license manager' I can only guess how friendly they'll be about working to try to resolve this one eh? DRM/Copy protection scheme for the FAIL. but maybe that can help you out somehow knowing why its not working?
