Why Do You Run Audacity Within CrossOver?

I'm sure that you have reasons, but they're not obvious to me, so why do you run Audacity within CrossOver, rather than running Audacity for your OS ? For example, is the Linux version of Audacity problematic with your distribution, or is your Mac's processor or OS version a constraint?

I run some old Windows apps within CrossOver because they're commercial and I can't justify buying OS X versions, but Audacity is free open source software. I'm asking because it might be instructive; I'm not being judgmental.

Sometimes you want to have multiple versions of software on a computer or want to check that wine is getting your mic so you can test another application like Dragon Dictation.

I've used Audacity to verify that my mic works correctly with wine.

That's a great idea - thanks for posting, David. I run the OS X version of Audacity on my Mac, and also some linux versions in virtual machines. Sooner or later, I may want to use a strategy like yours for troubleshooting.
