Arma 2 some success

I have managed to get arma 2 into the main menu i do not know if the actual game will work since the game does not respond to keyboard or the mouse so theres no way or navigating the menu.

Any ideas on how to get them working

Hi Jim.
As reported elsewhere, the problem most probably is with the built int graphics drivers. The graphic card supports all features that the game recquires, but the software graphics drivers for the Mac OS X that runs the graphic card does not. So, the problem does not really lie with Crossover, but with the graphic drivers supplied by Apple. Until they are updated with full(?) support, Arma 2 will probably not work. At least, that is how I understand it.

That is of course if you are using a Mac, if you are running Crossover on Linux, that might be a whole different ball game.

no zero different i reportet the same bug for crossover+linux

this is my lastest linux+wine test:

yes yes the menu don't reakt on mouse input.

So will ArmA 2 never work?

Is there another way to navigate the menu without the mouse?

As far as I understand it, ArmA2 will not work on the Mac until the graphic drivers for Mac OS X is fixed, and that special feature which ArmA2 tries to use is implemented. You need to lobby Apple to update the graphic driver to implement all the features on the card.

this is wrong you can get the same error in WINDOWS no linux no wine no macos is needet for this bug.

i copy past my bugreport:

"i found the source of the bug...

if i use a tool in windows to activate "Geometrie Instancing" arma2 in windows shows the same graphic errors than in linux/wine!

wine need's to stop using "Geometrie Instancing" and then arma2 works fine!

the driver's or ArmA2 can not handle "Geometrie Instancing" right.. thats the bug!

Qouting from another thread on the Arma2 issue:

CrossOver supports D24S8 depth stencil formats, and we support
X8R8G8B8 and A16B16G16R16F. The first two are pretty standard
formats that exist since the first DX versions. A16B16G16R16F was
added in DirectX 9.0b, with Geforce FX and Radeon 9500 cards. If you
have a Mac with an Intel card then the driver doesn't support it(its
a driver limitation, the card does). The open source drivers on
Linux don't support it either(intel and radeon cards). The binary
ATI and Nvidia drivers support this format fine, as do NV and ATI
Mac drivers.

I don´t know if this is in relationship to Geometric Aliasing, since I am not THAT familiar with the DirectX API, but I am interpreting that the fix is within the graphics driver, not Crossover, or Wine.

But, I would not mind being wrong about this at all, quite the opposite. :D

on windows arma2 turn of "Geometrie Instancing" or dx or the driver turn of "Geometrie Instancing"

you only get the error if you FORCE by special tool the "Geometrie Instancing" to ON

WINE need to react on the turn of "Geometrie Instancing" bit or they need o turn of this by default.

And, as I understand it, the graphic driver ignores that option, so there will not be a fix until the driver does.

Anyway, I would very much see Arma2 working with Crossover!
