Anvil Studio Keyrig 49 - no sustain

I have this new (to me) keyrig 49 and I'm trying it with anvil studio.

It sees it and records notes.

But only one duration. Holding keys down does not make the note last longer. All I can make is quarter (?) notes of whatever pitch.

My keyrig broken or anvil or something I'm doing wrong or that's the way it is supposed to work?
