Amazing Charts under Linux

Hello,

Currently Amazing Charts runs just about all of the screen-related functions without any problems, but there are issues with printing. We're working on troubleshooting this to find out where the problem is. The install went smoothly with Crossover Office. (The installer itself would not run at all under generic Wine). I'll try to keep the forum updated as to our progress with Amazing Charts on the Linux desktop.

The printing problem with Amazing Charts is SOLVED! We can now use Amazing Charts in our practice under Linux for all of our day to day patient care.

I think that the bug is in the Crossover Office postscript printer driver, as the the title of the document is taken from the beginning text of whatever is printed, which in Amazing Charts would be the practice information. If the practice name is too short, it inserts a <ctrl> M and a newline, breaking the document title and causing a postscript error. The work around is to pad the practice name with spaces, which will require a new license key from the folks at Amazing Charts. We started with:

Meyer, Malin and Associates, PLLC.

what finally fixed the problem was changing this to:

. Meyer, Malin and Associates, PLLC. .

note the period and 20 spaces of padding on each end of the name. This makes the practice name big enough so that the printing document title does not have any line breaks in it.

My thinking is that now that it prints, we can move from the Honorable Mention to maybe Bronze level.

The author of Amazing Charts has informed me that while the period and spaces trick works for the demo, there is no way to validate the software once you purchase it if you use this. He's working on patches for printing, which will be available shortly, and the current "nightly development build" has a fix while allows the existing code to print - which means most likely it will work well when Crossover Office 5.1 is released.

We'll keep you posted.
