Use the "Install Windows Software", "Other Application" to set up the Alpha5 runtime files.
Then, in "Manage Bottles", select the a5v9_RuntimeSetup bottle (or whatever yours is called), click the "Applications" tab, and also install the following (all available from within Crossover):
- MS Data Access Components (MDAC) 2.8 SP1
- MS Visual C++ Redistributable
- MS Windows Script 5.7
Also install any fonts which you use in your Alpha5 apps. Common fonts such as Arial and Times New Roman are available within Crossover; any unusual fonts can be copied (assuming you already own a legal copy of the font's .TTF file) into the Windows/Fonts directory for this bottle.
As a newcomer to Linux, with a dual-boot XP / Ubuntu machine, this is saving me huge amounts of time. In the time it takes for XP to boot fully, I can fire up Linux, start my work database (using a mount point to access the Alpha5 app's tables, which reside on XP), do the morning's bookkeeping, and shut it down again. Fabulous.
