Works well but no mouse

I buy AvP Classic 2000 on Steam and the graphics and the sound work great but the mouse doesn't work (only the click button works).
Someone have an idea how I could resolve this?

I test it on a Macbook unibody with the latest version of crossover.

Thanks in advance.

im having the same problem :( the mouse only goes so far and stops, makes it impossible to play. ill fool around with it a little and let you know if anything works

same problem here, now mouse movement!

MacBook C2D GMA950 / 10.5.8 Logitech MX 518 + USB Overdrive

But work flawless in BootCamp XP SP3

Did you guys try the registry edit...

HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software/Wine/DirectInput/MouseWarpOverride = "force"

It made the mouse work with my old version. Maybe it will help with the steam version.

if I followed everythin correctly
according to this:

http://wiki.winehq.org/UsefulRegistryKeys

it does not work.

No, it doesn't work. :s

tried it too, doesnt work.

Hi,

I have the Steam version of this title (note: in the last week I submitted
a separate C4 entry specifically for the Steam version of this title, and
Andrew cleaned up and did all the hard work wrt properly aligning the two
entries...just FYI sort of thing ;) and it is similarly affected by this
lack of mouse focus/input issue. I submitted a ticket regarding this to
codeweavers support about this problem, you can read that ticket...see;

http://www.codeweavers.com/support/tickets/browse/?ticket_id=780978

So that's the current 'state of play' here. If you buy/own this title and
want to report you are having the same problem/issue with the mouse input,
please feel free to report your experience in this thread (or the Steam
version forum page) so that the devs have some idea of how many people
would be interested in such a patch.

Please, do not 'cross-post' -- if you're reporting this about the Steam
version and ended up posting here because there wasn't a Steam version
C4 page of this title before, just leave it like that - do not report it
again on the Steam version page -- by the looks of it, any 'fix' for this
should work for both Steam and non-Steam versions, so 'one voice is enough'
so to speak ;) ...

I'll keep tracking it and let you know if/when there's any change...

Cheers!

Try an XBOX360 controller + XPADDER software + ALIENS VERSUS PREDATOR if your mouse is not working.

I'd like to see the results.

I'm currently using a Microsoft XBOX 360 controller, Macintosh OS X Leopard, and running Aliens Versus Predator Classic through Steam under emulation software with no problems.

Total time it took me to figure this out: 1 hour
Total time it will take to follow this guide and be playing the game: 15 minutes

If you have Macintosh OS X Leopard, an Xbox Controller, and would like to play Aliens Versus Predator natively in the operating system, here is how I did it:

Firstly you will need:
-A working Macintosh computer
-An Xbox 360 controller
-To purchase Aliens Versus Predator through your steam account.

Next, you will need several files:
-Download the steam client here: http://storefront.steampowered.com/download/SteamInstall.msi
-Download the XBOX 360 Gamepad driver for Mac OS X here: http://tattiebogle.net/index.php/ProjectRoot/Xbox360Controller/OsxDriver
-Download CrossOver emulation software here: http://media.codeweavers.com/pub/crossover/cxgames/demo/crossover-games-demo-8.0.0.dmg
-Download Mac OS X Gamepad emulation software here: http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/games/utilities/gamepadcompanion.html

Step 1: Install CrossOver Emulation software
Step 2: Using this youtube video as a guide, use the crossover emulation software to install Steam... Then, use steam to install Aliens Versus Predator.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LZ3rIbn9i7c
Step 3: Install the Mac OS X Xbox 360 Gamepad Driver
Step 4: Plug in your Xbox 360 Gamepad
Step 5: Install the Mac OS X Gamepad Companion Emulation software
Step 6: Use the GamePad Companion software to remap all of the keys to your Xbox Controller including the joystick Axises... For example: Assign button A to “z” assign button B to “X” assign Joystick-1-X-Axis to “A, D”, assign joystick-1-Y-axis to “W, S”, etc.
Step 7: When you have successfully remapped all of the keys to the controller, press “start” on gamepad companion and test to verify that the controller keys are working in a text document. Test each key one at a time. If your controller mapping is sufficient, move on, if not? Work on it.
Step 8: With Gamepad Companion set on “start” so that the controller is currently functioning... Use crossover to open steam, launch Aliens Versus Predator, and then simply go to the “controls” and remap all of the keys in AVP so that they are bound to the respective gamepad buttons and joysticks.
Step 9: Enjoy your fully functioning AVP with an XBOX 360 gamepad running smoothly in MAC OS X!

This is running perfect for me but here are some additional tips:

***Becuase a keyboard is limited in accepting multiple keystrokes at once, you'll want to map one joystick to the following commands: Mouse 1, Mouse 2, Mouse 3, Mouse 4

Primary fire: Wheel up
Secondary fir: Wheel down

When you go in game to assign your controls, do so, and this will prevent log jamming of "too many keystrokes from a keyboard input" which would otherwise result in actions like your character not turning when you want him to becuase you are also running, firing, and jumping at the same time.

I bought this game off Steam yesterday, sad to say my mouse does not work either. I can click, but no mouse movement. I'll play this one in windows for now until there is a fix. I am on Ubuntu 9.10 and Crossover Games 8.0 right now ( 2 versions behind I think? ). Wont be able to get a new subscription until I find a job again :<

There is a specific Steam version entry for AVP. You might want to look there for any further development as the mouse bug concerns only the steam version. This forum would be more appropriate for the non-steam, original cd-rom version.

Correct, that's one of the main reasons why I hoisted the Steam version
C4 page for this title, to try and avoid any such confusion...see;

Cheers
