Issues with mouse focus/input - Read Me first

Hi,

I submitted a ticket on this issue with codeweavers support, and
received the following reply...see;

http://www.codeweavers.com/support/tickets/browse/?ticket_id=780978

If you buy/own this title and experience the same problem/issue
with mouse focus/input, please feel free to report experience to
this thread. I'll keep tracking the issue, and if/when there's any
change, I let you know.

Cheers!

Hello, I've buy this game. I submitted a ticket and then encourage me to post on this forum.
I've the same probleme of mouse. I try the usual hack but it changes nothing.

On wine bugtracker I found this discussion :

http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=6971

And I use the latest crossover version for mac with a macbook unibody 2008.

ps : I can't see the reply.

Hi,

Thanks for letting me know - the ticket must be only visible to me.
The reply I speak of goes like this;

"Don,

This a recurring problem with some other games (not entirely sure but I think
Thief is one of those) in Wine with the mouse stuck in the middle of the screen.
There is a hack for this in Wine that you can apply to these games, but it
doesn't work in CrossOver. Stefan has looked at this hack but it tends to break
a lot of other things. So we only fix it on a case by case basis with our
supported programs. With next version of CrossOver Games and the new GUI we
potentially can apply this patch on a more game by game basis for unsupported
games.

Thanks,
Kossi"

Cheers!

Yeah, I've got that behavior here with Snow leopard, OSX 10.6.2. Damn sad. AvP was one of my all time favorites. I'm really hoping that they have a change in heart and fix this one. Visually it looks perfect. And it seems more than just this particular game suffers from this problem.

Help us COG, You're our only hope!

Hi there,

Thanks for the voice! The more people who express the desire to have this
looked at, the more it's likely to be examined in depth....'as time permits'.
I'm still chasing this one on the aforesaid ticket - Stefan's been giving me
clues about this -- I've actually dropped hunting the mouse input for a bit,
and been more concentrating on trying to replicate the Mac-centric trick (see
other thread in this forum about remapping gamepad input to keystrokes) into
the linux situation ...with little success I might add...

...that is, I can have either my logitech digipad or xbox360 gpad remapped to
w,a,s,d + mouse + buttons as appropriate, and drive the whole Steam GUI just
with the gamepad device...launch a game, everything works as expected in the
games themselves with the remappings...but not AvP unfortunately ;(

I will keep chasing it...

Cheers!

Same problem, no mouse movement inside of Linux or Mac builds. Maybe we will see this common issue fixed in 9.0? Should be here this month for CrossOver and maybe about the same time or next month for games. That was the guess date they are shooting for.

Hey there!

Thanks for recording this. I'm currently waiting to hear back from Stefan,
but I know they're busy right now getting CXO-9.0 out the door, so I expect
his reply will be a little delayed. He also mentioned that xinput2 was now
in the X tree proper and one of the wine devs was going to have a look at
how hard it would be to implement in wine. That will (hopefully) help fix
some titles with mousewarping/focus issues, but it's unknown if it'll help
here with AvP -- there was no timeframe determined as to when xinput2 support
will appear in wine - "when it's finished and ready" is the standard reply ;D

Cheers!

Yeah I'm having the same issue.
I'm wondering if AvP will be available through Steam when they release the Mac client in April...

Same issue here ☹️ Game looks great and is hella fast, but only keyboard input.

Same with me... :(

So, 9.0.0 is out... Anyone can comment? I see that Don have ranked this as silver; does it mean that mouse is still not working? Thanks.

Hi,

Yep, no change wrt to the mouse issue in CXG-9.0 ;^/

This probably needs to be fixed in the wine core code before it
filters down into the crossover wine build (same thing happens
in mainstrwam wine) -- I have a suspicion this may relate to
winebug 6971, but that is speculation on my part.

Cheers!

Has the MouseWarpOverride registry hack been tried? In addition to the values documented on this page, CrossOver Games 9 supports a value "force_edge". Try them all to see if any help. (Some may help in full-screen mode only.)

Hi Ken,

Thanks for the ideas, but sadly no....in linux at least - no
registry key makes an iota of difference. It's one of the weirdest
input riddles I've even come across..fortunately it's quite rare.
I was passing ideas back&forth with Stephan D on the matter some
time ago...we pretty much exhausted avenues and threw our hands
in the air - he mentioned that perhaps when 6971 was ever overcome,
this may help with this title...but it's also possible the game
itself has some whacking input coding we don't know about yet... 8)

Cheers!

Ok, thanks anyways. And yes, this seems to differ from the usual mouse warp issues... Too bad. I don't have any other controllers, so qjoypad is no help either. Keyboard is non-option, although I used to play Wolfenstein and Doom 1 an eternity ago using only keyboard 😉 Oh times...
