Age Of Mythology Gold Edition Forum

I am running Crossover Games on MAC OS X Mavericks and I have hit this particular roadblock when trying to install Age of Mythology Gold Edition...

I begin the installation following all the CXG prompts and I enter the serial code (which I almost have memorised due to entering in countless times) for my copy of the original AoM, upon clicking the "Next" button I am greeted with the following message (which has gone from getting old, real fast to indescribably infuriating):

"Cannot load PidGen.dll"

So I click okay and NOTHING HAPPENS!
I have copied dll-files "pidgen" and "mfc42" into appropriate "System" folders as I have tried both XP and Win98 bottles, only to find my efforts are FUTILE upon repeating original process.

Which Wine Bottle is most effective for insuring a successful installation of Age of Mythology Gold Edition (Game + Add-On)?
Ultimately, what are the steps for a smooth and successful installation?

I encountered this same problem and was able to get past it by installing Microsoft Visual C++ 6.0 Redistributable into a WinXP bottle before trying to install Age of Mythology as suggested in the following thread:
