Problems on installation

Everything goes fine until I need to switch the discs. When I put the second disc in, a pop up saying CrossOVer doesn't have the file and that I need to download it, and then the "Downloading Age of Mythology..." bar is only half complete. The installation on the disc finishes, and prompts me to start playing. When i click start, an error pops up and says there is a "serious" problem. Then CrossOver says it's rebooting, and the installation finishes but still doesn't work. Help.

After attempting to install for 3 days, I can provide the solution to many; wanted to reply to Guillaume, but that thread is close. Lets see:

I am assuming you OWN a legal WINDOWS copy of both AOM and the Titans Expansion. (Gold Edition is NOT needed, but it helps)

Basically you should be able to install without much trouble (but it is best to use the crosstie, if you can find it) (I'll post it here)

https://www.codeweavers.com/compatibility/browse/name/?app_id=7786 (choose the install using the crosstie option)

What is confusing is that the program does not start. For that I recommend you watch the video of Paul the Tall (google Paul the Tall Age of Mithology).

He explains it all and provides a free solution. I am glad I got CrossOver since it is somewhat cleaner AND they were able to map the 'Pause' key, and all important feature for AOM. I have both solutions running.

So why is it not working for you? (DMCA Removed) The wine environment cannot run from a CD with copy protection (I believe it is called DRM)

I would recommend to update the program prior to substituting the exe file. To avoid any trouble I also chose the English version of my copies (having 4 it was easy to do this 😊 )

Getting this exe from the internet is itself and adventure.

Paul the tall recommends in his video to configure the wine display to 1024 x 800. I used 1200 x 1024 and it worked like a champ.

For the F11 key (so you can see the ALL important elapsed time) go into your MAC system options and make sure F11 is NOT an special key. Then press fn + F11

For the pause key, you need to go to the Startup directory of the application, edit the game.con or gamex.con file and search for Pause. It is very easy. I used the esc key, although initially I tried alt-esc (alt + esc).

As I mentioned, it is all cleaner in the CrossOver environment. If you use Paul the tall Solution (very similar since both are basically using wine) you need to alter the same parameters in a (very) slightly different manner.

I cannot believe I got both working. To remember good old times, I have already played 4 games! 😊

I'll be glad to help anyone.

Also on the Sam Kolkman Thread (Also locked) the replies ARE MISLEADING. Those errors are UNIMPORTANT, and best of all, eliminated by using the crosstie installation I mentioned before. Also no such problems using the Paul the Tall solution...

The mount / dismount message is a dead end.
