Age of Empires II HD Forum

I installed AoE2HD through Steam, and then I started it up. It displayed what I presumed to be the startup screen, you know, a big fake "parchment", planks hanging from a sign that said "Age of Empires II HD Edition". And then I waited for something else, like, say, a "PLAY" button, to show up.

And I waited.

And I waited.

And nothing showed up.

I tried again, several times. Then, I uninstalled it and reinstalled it. And I tried again, several times. It worked once, but I'm not sure how I got it to work. Is anyone else having a problem like this?

(Oh, and, also, it seems to quit if I press Enter.)

Late 2011 Macbook Pro
2.4 GHz Intel Core i5
8 GB RAM
Intel HD Graphics 3000
Crossover 12.5.1
(ETA: Also, OS X Version: 10.9.)

So I have this same exact problem. I try clicking on the planks just to see if maybe its just a text issue, but still nothing. I too have a late 2011 MBP with the intel HD 3000 integrated graphics, although I have an i7 processor.

So I also tried getting a newer version of wine (1.7.9) directly without crossover. In this bottle, I can actually run the game, clicking the planks work, but then when I'm actually in the game the menus work but the screen is all white. Someone on the steam forums suggested this might be because our integrated graphics cards aren't good enough.

Thoughts?
