I can start the game up and join a server without any problem, but as soon as I close the MotD that pops up when you first join, the game freezes for a few seconds and then crashes to desktop. On a few rare occasions it has gotten as far as the team select menu popping up, and only once I was able to see the class select menu, but no images would appear when you highlight each class. But in each of these rare cases it also froze and then promptly crashed to the desktop. If I join a server and don't close the MotD it will stay there indefinitely running at up to 60fps and what little I can see around the message box appears to be running smoothly.

Here is one other strange problem that occurred. When I tried to play HL2 again after all this meddling with AoC, the weapon icons had all changed. I tried to pull out my RPG to shoot down a gunship and wondered why Gordon was carrying a halberd...

I have installed all recommended support programs for windows, installed orange box sdk as well as TF2, and adjusted my game settings using a multitude of different configs that I have found on the Age of Chivalry site, including the dxlevel tip provided here.

Hello (: Not many people play this game....but i like this game quite alot

To start of , it would be best to reinstall on to a new bottle ...to ensure there is no bad registry or some bad settings ( gcf files can be copied and paste over from old bottle)

Are you using a mac?

The problem you described could be motd rendering error..or bug ..

A quick fix to that problem is to install Internet explorer to that bottle ( IE 6 or 7 would do )

Another way is to rename the motd.txt file to oldmotd.txt and make it read only ..( not too sure bout this)

That didn't work for me, the game still crashes but thanks for trying to help.

I'll have a look at this too....but just starting Steam now, I
notice it's involved with updating all my HL2 titles ...need wait
for that to finish off....but I'll report back here if I find out
anything interesting....

Has there been any breakthroughs with this? I happened to give Age of Chivalry a go today, and I am having the same problems listed here--after closing MOTD, I get the team selection screen, I have no problem picking a team, but once it shows the class menu, no items are displayed, and attempting to select any of the classes leads to hanging and crashing. Currently going to try the few tips and tricks listed here. I don't think it has anything to do with the MOTD message, myself, but something with the class menu.

I don't know how it ties in to Crossover, or how it'd be used, but WineHQ's entry (though outdated) says to run it with Compiz.
