Within the last years like many others who got frustrated by the Windows 10 politics of Microsoft or the Apple politics to mainstream, away from the professional users, i moved to linux.
The role as a software developer is easy going on linux, most software is also available there.
But still there is a gap in professional vector and pixel based graphic applications (and DTP) like Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator and Adobe InDesign.
Adobe made many people unhappy with their subscription model.
Serif.com recognized that and created amazing clones, even more clear, faster and easier to use, avoiding hyped stuff that does not belong into these apps. And they are successful offering their "clonse" Affinity Photo, Affinity Designer and Affinity Publisher.
They started on Mac, later added Windows.
More and more people want to move to Linux, but can't completely because there is a lack of this graphics triple. GIMP, Inkscape and Scribus are very nice, but most time not enought for professional users.
So for years people are asking Serif for an native Linux port or at least a version running on wine.

But they do not intent to do here anything officially.
The linux users even had the idea, that Affinity could do a kickstarter campaign to ensure to get back the costs.
But unfortunately there was no positive reaction from Serif.
But that maybe that is THE chance for CodeWeavers to satisfy this niche, as there is a quite big demand for a linux version!
