Illustrator CS2

So I have Illustrator CS2 installing fine and it starts, gives me splash screen and registration and moves on to loading plugins. Then it gets stuck at loading pencil tool.aip
Gives me an error dialog: "The operation cannot complete because of an unknown error. [Parm]"
If I click OK, it goes on to load BrushManager.aip and gets stuck with no dialog.

Any ideas? Seems too close to give up.
