I took a shot at Framemaker with the latest Wine build (20040121 I believe). The install app doesn't work correctly if you use "wine -- AUTOPLAY.EXE" (I'm not sure if this needs DCOM or IE installed to work correctly, it was a blank Wine universe), but if you go for "wine -- FM/SETUP.EXE", it appears to install correctly.
"wine -- FrameMaker.exe" terminates with no error messages.

I've tried installing FrameMaker 7.0 with both CrossOver Office and Wine (20040121, package install, Slackware 9.1) and get the same results -- it installs fine executing fm/setup.exe but pops up "The version stamp is missing from the FrameMaker resource file: C:\Program Files\Adobe\FrameMaker7.0\fminit\fmres.dll." Obviously, not a good thing. I'm installing on a non-windows machine, ie5.5 is installed, dcom98 is installed. I'm still playing with it, but it does look kind of hopeless at this point.
The console displays "fixme:dialog:MSGBOX_OnInit task modal msgbox ! Not modal yet." and that's it in the way of error messages (though there were a bunch during installation).
From my previous experience with 20040121 (and it's even earlier self-termination), I'm inferring that DCOM and IE are requirements for Framemaker to run correctly.
I had googled for the error and I found references to it over a year ago and no one was concerned about it impacting program behavior. I don't think it has anything to do with the fmres.dll problem.
