Adobe Digital Editions 4.5.12 Forum

I am running Adobe Digital Editions 4.5.12 on Crossover 20.0.4. I have been running ADE for many years on Crossover as a core part of my ebook workflow. I have never had an issue running ADE on crossover - the 5 star compatibility rating was my experience.

I have two laptops both exhibiting the same behaviour with ADE. I get popups saying the application is not responding, and when I attempt to download any book from any location, I get the dreaded E_ADEPT_DOCUMENT_TOO_SHORT every time. I cannot download any ebook at all from any source right now with ADE.

One laptop is an old install of ADE, and has both 4.5.12 and 4.5.11 and was upgraded to Crossover 20.0.4. The 2nd laptop was a clean install of Crossover 20.0.4 & ADE 4.5.12

I have a third machine with ADE & Crossover on it that I know for sure worked within the last month, but I don't have access to it right now to compare.

Can anyone suggest any debugging approaches? I have tried all the obvious stuff of reauthorization & adept key regedit that I found with google.

I just checked my known working installation on Codeweavers 23.7.0, and ADE 4.5.11. This installation was known working as of 2 Jul 2024.

ADE is no longer functioning on that install either, giving the same E_ADEPT_DOCUMENT_TOO_SHORT error on any attempt to download.

So something has changed to make ADE no longer work under Codeweavers.
