SAINT PAUL, Minn (Wednesday, May 9, 2018) — CodeWeavers, Inc., developer of CrossOver—the easiest, fastest way to run Windows software on Mac, Linux, Android, and ChromeOS—announced today that it will be partnering with Cyan Worlds, Inc. to deliver macOS compatible titles as part of the Myst 25th Anniversary Collection available only through Kickstarter. To celebrate the 25th Anniversary of Myst, Cyan is offering a never-been-done-before historical anthology of the complete Myst series. The Anniversary Collection will run on modern Windows operating systems AND NOW with the help of CodeWeavers porting services, on modern macOS operating systems including 10.13 High Sierra.
Since CodeWeavers wrapped the Myst games with their CrossOver technology, no Windows license, no Windows operating system, no rebooting and no additional emulation software will be needed to play.
CodeWeavers’ President, James B. Ramey stated, “We are incredibly excited at the opportunity to be partnering with arguably the most transformative game in the history of macOS technology. In delivering these games to both beloved fans and new adventurers, we hope that the Myst series can live on for another 25 years!” Further adding, “Myst was my first experience with a ‘real’ computer game. I am probably in the career I am in today because of my love for that game which lead to a passion for all video games.”
“As I type this on my Mac, I am so excited that I’ll be able to play all of the Myst games without a PC, an emulator, or Boot Camp!” typed Rand Miller, co-founder of Cyan. “CodeWeavers provided an amazing solution that I was sure wouldn’t be possible. I only wish I had known about their CrossOver technology sooner.”
Now, both Mac and PC users can participate in this epic offering and explore these graphical adventure games. Released originally in 1993, Myst is still considered a groundbreaking game and is the bestselling game of the 20th century. Interested backers can participate in this Kickstarter campaign to receive their copy of The Myst 25th Anniversary Collection. The campaign is scheduled to run through May 24, 2018 with the games starting to ship in August 2018.
