problem playing Curse of Monkey Island (aka Monkey Island 3)

Hi, i've been trying to play monkey island 3 through crossover games but cannot get it to launch. Game was successfully installed and startup screen of the game starts up but when i press play, despite having mounted the game CD, i get the error message that it cannot find the CD. I love this game so if anyone knows a way around this i would be very grateful. thanks

i am not sure about CMI, but usually copy protection are often an issue with wine/crossover. Most likely you need to download an nocd cdrack or something. To make it run without CD.

Another option (if you do not like the site you can find those files on) is to run it with ScummVM (MI 1-3 are working with Scumm, MI4 runs great with wine/crossover).

This title might be better suited for use with scummvm.

This sounds like copy-protection at play, but everything I've just
read is suggesting there is no copy protection at play. (there were
some words suggesting a windows registry entry is created during
install - if that were correct, it's possibly what you've found)

I would think you'd have to use the win98 template if it were
going to run in crossover at all, and possibly with crossover
in windowed mode...I'm not sure, I don't have the game - I'm
just tossing you ideas I would try....

There is a file on megagames.com ;

..however, it seems related to cd backup, and when I started
the 'Curse.exe' file the above archive contained, I was presented
with the game's installer. Whether or not this can help you, I
cannot say...perhaps this installer does something different from
the 'real' one.

...and yes, it is a good old game (;

hey,

you might actually want to look at scummvm as a way of getting COMI working right away.

best,
mihai
