CrossOver Support - Community Forums

Hi all,
I installed Diablo 4 and purchased Vessels of Hatred. AFter install when i clicked on Play, it just goes to Update again. And the game crashes with this error - This application encountered an unexpected error.

This is frustrating, the game wont even launch, just money down the drain if there is no fix to this:(

I read some of the other threads but couldnt tell if there was a fix or workaround.

Anyone have any ideas?

I just tried opening it as I was playing it earlier today. Now my game crashes It just sits there on the login screen with the gates picture up. I wouldn't worry too much about money down the drain D4 is a HUGE game for Crossover and they put a lot of time and energy into making sure this one works. In the past the longest I had to wait for a fix was when a major D4 patch was made and it took them about a month and a week or so. Remember they don't get DEV KITS. they have to work with WINE which is the core of the software basically and write code to get this to work on a system it was never designed to work on.

If they are in the U.S. I'm not sure we have a major holiday coming up on Thursday. But along with everyone else send in an error report to their support department. They are very polite and typically respond same day or the next with what's going on. I'm about to submit a report now that I can't play either.

I'm also experiencing the same problem, a full 8 days after I first saw this thread, on Cyber Monday. Anyone have any more luck? or is Crossover still working on a fix for this issue?

Try one of these options.

It's not an CrossOver issue. Its shitty Blizzard programming. It seems though they fixed the server issue. D4 runs fine now again. However, try this workaround if the issue still persists. Many other users reported this issue.

When we try to interact in the game, a request is sent:

[Sigma] [tact] [:0]: cURL request 'http://us.cdn.blizzard.com/tpr/fenris/data/28/84/2884297cca1526ff70530535405ced8a' failed with 28: Timeout was reached
Until the request receives a response, the game freezes.

To make the request return a response immediately without waiting, I blocked access to it in Windows. After doing this, the freezes stopped in the game.

Solution:
Navigate to:
C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts
Add the following lines to the hosts file:
127.0.0.1 us.cdn.blizzard.com
127.0.0.1 eu.cdn.blizzard.com```

What are your Settings? Did you activate D3DMetal and MSync in the crossover bottle?
