On an external drive of my M2 Macbook Air, I installed a Windows 10 64bit bottle with Steam and some games. I changed the installation paths etc and both Steam itself and Outer Wilds run perfectly, but now I downloaded Hitman III and it doesn't work. The initial little popup menu (play, options, quit) shows up (options are clickable and work well) but once I click "play" the wine debugger pops up, as well as a window stating "The program HITMANS.exe has encountered a serious problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience."
I've seen Hitman doesn't have the best compatibility (only 3⭐️) but it does seem to run for others at least.
Has anyone encountered the same issue and found a fix or have I overlooked something obvious?
I'm really new to crossover so there is a high likelihood of this being user error.
I am having this same issue. I have seen videos of it being run with gptk2 on an m3 mac (https://www.reddit.com/r/macgaming/comments/1ddesgi/hitman_3_running_on_macbook_m3_pro_with_crossover/). I tried to install gptk2 with a beta version of the next macos update, following a tutorial on youtube (onto an external ssd) and it would not install (after trying to install over and over again for several hours, it gave up and crashed my macbook and I was not able to get into it for several more hours). I am wondering if it is simply an issue of 'it won't run on my m1 mac bc it is not powerful enough or missing some sort of feature that the more recent apple chips have. Not sure. Has happened to me with other games too however.
I have hitman 3 running on m1 max, although it runs only on gptk2, when i launch it on gptk1 i get a hard freeze and have to reboot.
