As today. I downloaded Crossover and decided to try to get my FLstudio work (or not) And this is my experience so far.
1 I try to install from command line as described in the online tutorial. BUT i got some errors about unable to complete the install of
crossover. Changed ti the Gdebi install option and the installation errors dissapeared and the install went fine.
2 Downloaded the latest FLstudio Win .exe and cd my way to my download directory. Followed the instructions and BAM! THE FLstudio
install just stopped and crossover "dissapeared" window and all. No process running with any connection to crossover ?! very
strange.
My install settings where Windows 10 and a bottle name of "FLstudio" using the option not listed software at the install menu.
3 Did a new attemt to install but crossover went down/dissapered when the FLstudio installer where about to launch.
4 Changed the settings to Windows 8 64bit, bottleName FLstudio and whoosh! the install went all the way totally without any errors
or warnings. Holding my breath.. I started FLstudio via the icon in ubuntu software.. And YES FLstudio started up.
I loaded some demo song and started it.. YES! it played fine.. I desided to try to do an "online" install of my reg key, That also
went fine. Restared FLstudio and the sofrtware was indeed correctly registered in my name.
5 I played along a little with the FL studio controls and sofaar things seems to work as it should.
Not any advanced testing yet just some experimenting with controls and demo songs. Next step would be to install some plugins and
se if they work as expected and later..connect my AKAI Professional MPC61 and se how latency and connectivity looks like.
If my keyboards work as intended I will pay for crossover since I really hate windows and FLstudio is the only software I have to
run on a windows computer (I have one computer dedicated to FLstudio and music making. But also an Ubuntu22.04 with dual boot for
quick launch when the "inspiration" comes.)
Very strange that crossover seems to need to be set to windows 8 64bit for my FLstudio install. I could not get it working at all with Windows 10 64bit option in crossover. Not that i care as long as FLstudio works. But perhaps this information might be useful for others that strugeling to get things to work.
Another tip.. USE X11 windowing system NOT Wayland. Also install the FLstudio ASIO (at the FLstudio Install).
If anyone using FLstudio with crossover I don't mind some tips and contact about good or bad things running FLstudio on crossover.
I try to write some more about my experiences if anyone are interested. and/or if I need help with comming things.
Also I am Swedish so my english are not the best but I hope it is understandable.
An my menu of testing MIDI scripting in FLstudio will be tested out if the 15 day trial I am on are enough for that.
MIDI scripting to setup my keyboard simply HAVE to work in my FLstudio setup.
BTW. It wopuld be great to have a payment option to extend the free trial period, since a lot of software can be quite daunting to fully test in a 15 day period. Perhaps have the ability to extend with a 30 or 60 day period for an amount of money.
