Hello,
I've always asked myself why Crossover doesn't have a way to choose which version of wine to use.
I am not saying that crossover should download ANY wine version or use the system installed one, but at least old WINE version created by codeweavers.
I know that Codeweavers always make every new release much better but in some cases it breaks and let me explain why.
Two days ago I wanted to install Photoshop CS6 from my old PS CD, but to my surprise it would not install on Crossover 23.5, it is marked with 1 star and the note (Will not install), I remember it did work very well so I looked at WINEHQ and read that it does install with WINE 7.7 so I did some research and found out that Crossover 22 has wine 7.7. To my surprise it shows Photoshop CS6 with 4 stars, it installs GREAT and works great except for some hardware acceleration as far as WINEHQ mentions, so once installed and tested I created and archive (For testing), after creating the archive I uninstalled all traces of crossover even .cxoffice, I installed 23.5 and imported the archive.
Sure, I could just have upgraded from 22 to 23.5 but I wanted to test if it worked this way, this actually taught me that if a program installs and works correctly on certain crossover release it is better to archive it just in case I need to reinstall.
Now, let me tell you what happened next, Photoshop Works even better on Crossover 23.5, the only problem was it didn't install it even works on a windows 10 bottle and hardware acceleration show my nvidia card. I wonder how many more programs are in the same situation.
So, it would be GREAT to be able to choose past wine versions at least for installing or if something breaks.
Regards
