Hi,
So i read around about different issues people are having and looked into some sort of a solution. Here is what iv uncovered so far:
KUBUNTU 20.04 LTS
Office 365 brings a black window and has a tooltip when installing: don't go near the tooltip, people messing with the tooltip started seeing an error and the install would fail in 5 mins. The black screen is normal and needs no input from you and will commence install on its own.
I tried installing once, and went over the tooltip to see what would happen, at 96%, it failed instantly.
I had been reading that Office 365 no longer supported win7 in crossover, so i changed the bottle properties to windows 8.1 and activated accelerated graphics (vulkan).
I downloaded from office 365, the 32 bit offline installer,
I then clicked "install software into this bottle" and put in office 365, i put the setup32.exe as install file and the image folder as the install folder.
Clicked next and left it alone.
nearly 4 hours later, it still wasn't complete but i could see word, excel, powerpoint and others in the menu.
Clicking them gives the error that "something went wrong". The install suddenly showed "completed", no crash error.
nothing would open so I switched the bottle back to windows 7 and kept messing with it, to no effect. I think it got installed but i am unsure what to do next, Installing a copy of ms edge came to mind but i haven't tried, also since linux has ms-edge, can we use a bridge or plugin for it?
It supports chrome extensions, so why not?
I am seriously beginning to consider the winapps version and wonder how that would fair.
