MapPoint 2013 North America - Activation window freezes

Hi,

I'm having problems running the Activation Wizard for MapPoint 2013 North America in Crossover (V 13.0 (13.0.0.27609).
The installation into a new bottle seems to go fine, but then when I try to run it for the first time, I get an "Activation" window advising:

"The activation wizard will register MapPoint"

Clicking "Next" . . . . brings up the following window:

There it hangs until I either choose to go "Back" or "Cancel".
Any idea's how to remedy this or what's causing it would be very welcome.

Thanks

I did a quick look around online and I didn't see this problem to much. But I did see that they have a couple different ways of activating. You can activate Mappoint over the phone from this number (866) 740-1256. Maybe try this and see if it'll get you past the activation window so you can use the program. I'm not very versed with mac so maybe someone else has a more direct fix.

Hope everything works out.

Hey Donny,

Thanks for the info, I'll give the activation over the phone a go, but I really was hoping to find out "why" this is happening in Crossover as I've had similar experiences with MS Project AND other software packages (custom built for my company). I managed to get those running on a Windows based OS, but NOT in Crossover (yet).

Thanks again for your response & a very Happy New year to you.

This might be a stupid post, but I had software behave like this under Windows itself, namely Firefox.

When that happens, insisting on clicking next a few time seem to "unlock" it, kind of like an acheivement! 😋

So have you tried clicking next anyway?

Other then that, I would think that perhaps a debug log without any options might reveal something, or it might not.

Hey J-P,

Yes tried clicking "Next", but it's grayed out . . . also tried the back button several times in an attempt to get the "Next" button to activate (turn black), but so far it's staying grayed out.

I can only think that for some reason the activation window is not connecting to the internet via Crossover. Anyone have an idea how I might be able to check this from within X-over (preferably without installing a web browser)?

Thanks

Well, if just one library is missing, the debug log might help to pinpoint it so as to avoid the installation of a browser.

Those lines in the log are easy to spot, and clearly state what library was expected. From there, it would be possible to copy it from a computer or VM, or even the web if you're willing. It might also be that it is a part of a common set of library, available without a browser.

Hey J-P,

I'm pretty new to working with log files in X-over - how or where do I find them for the installation?

I embedded the link in my first post, hence the blue text for no reason, that was a link! Since the manual has nice images, I do refer to the proper section for the "noobs", as it does a much better job than myself. But I guess I was being too subbtle with link embedded thing. 😅

But here is the link as to how to do it, in plain sight...

Now the idea is to submit these for support, and a support ticket might not be a bad idea, but we can take a look too. For now, just ask for the bug report with no options, because that is the least verbose report. If this is a missing library thing, we should have enough with a basic report.

Since we're only on the second, Happy New Year to all!
